Company History
Bates Insurance Group was founded in September of 1988 by Edward Bates, who set out to assist smaller businesses with the challenges inherent in offering employee benefit programs. Previous TPA (Third Party Administrator) and corporate insurance buyer experience allowed Ed to identify a need within the small employer segment, who often do not have the resources to manage their own benefit solutions. Since that time BIG has developed into a full service organization offering commercial products, personal lines, financial planning, and individual products. Our expanded product offerings remain grounded in the philosophies BIG was founded upon.
