I am pleased to announce that on October 1, 2010, Jereme Bates of our firm was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer.  Jereme is the third generation in our family to be in the insurance industry.  His grandfather was a manager for Insurance Company of North America (later CIGNA) after returning from World War II until his retirement in 1976.  I was first introduced to the insurance world through related activities in management for larger corporations such as E.L. Murphy Trucking Company, Rauenhorst Corporation, (today Opus Corporation) and finally Carlson Companies.  That all culminated with the creation of Edward D. Bates & Associations, Inc in 1988, which is today’s Bates Insurance Group.  Jereme joined our firm in September of 2002 after graduating from the University of Kansas in 2000.  He has worked in numerous positions within our company but has always been a great resource and confidante for me during those years.  With Jereme celebrating his 32nd birthday in July and me my 64th birthday in September, it  seemed a good time to begin the gradual transition of our business.  I resigned as President/CEO on October 1st becoming the company’s Chief Financial Officer and will remain Chairman of the Board. I will of course also continue to serve my client’s needs. Jereme will take over the day to day operations of the company and continue advancing our business philosophy “not to be the largest insurance agency but the best”.  We value our clients and want to pledge that this company and it’s personnel will be here for you in coming years. As most of you hopefully know by now is that all you need to do is contact us  and we promptly respond with service.  In today’s economy and technical world, the benefits of working with a family owned company that takes you seriously, is   added personal value.  Thank you for your business.
